GPIRS is the Global Prototype, Inventory, Requisitioning, and Scheduling system. GPIRS DDL is designed to allow the on-line supplier to receive and answer releases for prototype parts.

Purpose

To teach the user how to view and answer prototype releases on the Global Prototype, Inventory, Requisitioning, and Scheduling (GPIRS) system DDL Internet site on the Ford Supplier Network (FSN).

What is DDL?

DDL is a Direct Data Link to an existing Ford system. DDL is not a system of its own. DDL is an umbrella term used to describe the connections to a variety of on-line systems at Ford Motor Company. Here is a list of Ford systems that are considered to be Direct Data Link:

  • DDL for PSW CMMS
  • DDL for Production CMMS
  • VPP DDL
  • WIPS DDL
  • GPIRS DDL
  • DDL for Service MMP
  • DDL for Production MSIII
  • WERS DDL.

What is GPIRS?

GPIRS is the Global Prototype, Inventory, Requisitioning, and Scheduling system. GPIRS DDL is designed to allow the on-line supplier to receive and answer releases for prototype parts.

What is a prototype release?

A prototype release is an order from Planning and Pre-Production Management (PPM), formerly Timing Release and Material Control (TRMC), notifying the suppier that Ford requires prototype parts. In the past, these releases were faxed to suppliers. Currently, an online version is available that replaces the paper copies. Once the appropriate forms are processed, you will receive an email notification that a new prototype release is available on FSN. See information below or on the registration page regarding access to GPIRS DDL.

Prototype suppliers are required to answer their releases, indicating whether the requested timing and amounts are possible. Red borders are created for problem issues.
